We’ve been on tour for a few days now and so far it has been amazing. From playing with our dear friends Cloud Becomes Your Hand in Bloomington, to staying on my friend’s 23 acres of forest in Athens, OH, to playing on the hottest day in recorded history of Baltimore and visiting friends and family it has been great. I wanted to let everyone know about a compilation we are on that is being released by Two Syllable Records. Its a really good sampler of Chicago music and we’re excited to share a tape with so many of our talented friends. You can preorder it here.

We’ve also made a few changes to our tour lineup. We will be playing in Buffalo at the Soundlab on August 3, instead of August 4, so that we can share the bill with two sick bands, Hume and Dope Body. We will also be joining them the following day in Toronto.

I aim to swim as much as possible in as many swimming holes as I can. I welcome all swimming suggestions. In addition to our records and cassettes I am making all kinds of things to sell at our shows. Clothing, haircuts, embroidered pouches, yarn puffs, and whatever else I can churn out in the next week.

Soon many things will be happening and we are very excited about all of them. Our record is nearing completion and will be available very soon. I will learn how to help you to buy it within this website. We are very honored to be working with our friend Edie Fake who created our tour posters as well as the art for our album. It’s all looking pretty good in my humble opinion.

We are having our record release at the Empty Bottle on Monday, August 8. It will be free. Oakeater and Oriental Rugs will join us and I hope you will too. We will be freshly returned from a Northeast tour, the dates of which I will post tomorrow when I am less sleepy.

The work of the past few months is drawing to a close. We are spending the evening with our pal Dan Agosto, mixing our record! It has been a long journey but we are really excited about the final results. Check back soon for some new songs.

In a few weeks we’ll be joining our good friends Future Islands for two shows- June 13 at the Cactus Club in Milwaukee and June 15 at the Subterranean in Chicago. We always love getting to hang out with them so we are looking forward to these shows!

I am writing this from the studio where we are mixing down our record with our friend Steve Ptacek. If all goes according to plan, the whole thing will be finished by the end of this week. Check back soon because we will post some of what we’ve been working on. It has been an epic process.

In other news, we played a sick show on Saturday night with some friends from Baltimore, Ed Schrader’s Music Beat and Dope Body and also some local pals Nude Sunrise. They all killed it!

Thanks so much to everyone who came out to the Empty Bottle last night. We love playing there and last night was no exception! Our next show is going to be May 14 at Drone City with Nude Sunrise,and some bands from my hometown, Baltimore : Ed Schraders Music Beat and Dope Body. Email us for the address.

Grey winter edges its way towards the spring mist. With the last of the melting snow we find ourselves drawing near the end of recording our first full-length LP, to be released on vinyl on Rotted Tooth Recordings and on cassette on Catholic Tapes. It has been an epic and exciting process. We aim to tour it around the east coast sometime in July. In the meantime, we are playing a show next Friday, May 6 at the Empty Bottle with Disappears and the Eternals. For tickets click here.
